My 24-year-old asked me if I'd made him a lunch to take to law school today. I *think* he was kidding. This was such a great read, Shelly. Congratulations on your book -- and CNN!!
This was hilarious in its entirety but that last line killed me. Please don't take Radar to get his mustache waxed. And congratulations on CNN! That's a BIG DEAL, bestie!!!
My mom was 36 when she had me, and I was always hyper aware of how she was the “old mom” compared to my classmates. This was a bigger deal in the 70s/80s than it is now, of course. My siblings were in middle school when I was born, so I imagine her dealing with puberty AND a baby AND perimenopause all at the same time! 😭
Let me be the first to say that younger moms DO NOT necessarily have their shit together and have more energy. I mean, yes I didn't need as much sleep at 19 and early 20s, but I also had no idea wtf I was doing because I was thrown into motherhood. I feel like older moms actually plan to be moms, therefore, the whole parenting gig might be a more beautiful affair.
In my early 40s some people thought my early 20s son was my boyfriend 🤣 It sort of felt like a compliment to me but it was super cringe for him lol.

I LOVE this so much, Amanda! It’s adorable and charming (to an outsider!) hahahhaaa
Oooh parenting week looks fun! Also, poor Syd's mom, haha
PS exactly how much older than 35 were you?
I absolutely love that you threw Syd’s mom under the bus on the altar of youth 🤣🤣🤣
And wow, CNN! Crushing it Shelly!

My mom was 27 when she had me and THAT was considered old!
“CNN bitches!”
That's their tagline, no?
I love that you will be going thru menopause at the same time your son’s voice will be cracking.
FYI empty nester moms are still moms. 😉
Oh they're definitely still moms. A mom can't shake being a mom no matter where her kid is!
“Or maybe it’s because with our newly sprouted mustaches, my son finally looks like me.” This will live rent free in my mind for the foreseeable 😂
It will live rent free in my son's mind as well! Horrifying!
