I GREW UP in South Florida, where every weekend was like Spring Break and anything more than SPF 2 was for wimps! My dermatologist loves me.

This was so good, Shelly!

OH DAMN! I can’t imagine growing up there and having to fight the sun EVERY DAY!!! It is quite beautiful though. :)

I am cracking up! I am also Severely Sun Damaged Shelly. I have had skin cancers taken off my face, chest and legs. I lived in AZ almost all my life and was outdoors, in pools, in reservoirs, on horses, etc mostly with NO SUNSCREEN. Then encouraged by my darker skinned mother to “get some color!!!!!” as a teen. I am not originally particularly melanated. Now I am unevenly, spottedly, weirdly melanated.

SHELLY, I swear I had a whole paragraph in here about my mom (who was 100% Lebanese and darker pigmented) used to tell my brother and I to “get some color!” She was almost insulted when we started using 100 SPF! I’m sorry you’ve gone through so much because of sun damage. Shelly’s Unite!

😂😂😂 thoroughly enjoyed reading this!!! "The face I saw reflected looked like the love child of that horrific Lady Elaine puppet from Mr. Rogers and a cat’s anus." <- I live for this kind of descriptive shit. Well done. 😂😂👏👏

And putting my face in THE BOX was worth it just for this comment! 🥰

First, thank you for your confidence. There’s definitely lots of fertile ground in the #2/#2 arena, but there are a couple of other directions I’d like to pursue if that’s okay:

1. “I don’t know what you have in mind doc, but that ain’t a pencil sharpener.”

2. “While you’re at it, could you see if my car keys are under there?”

This was so f’ing funny. I can’t tell you how hard I lost it at “The face I saw reflected looked like the love child of that horrific Lady Elaine puppet from Mr. Rogers and a cat’s anus.” That box sounds scarier than the one in “Seven.”

You are my Johnsons baby oil and Ban de Soleil sistah. Did you squeeze lemon in your hair to make it blonde?

Omg I did! I wasn’t allowed the use of any kind of “product”, so all summer long you could have made lemonade out of my hair.

Well, I used Sun-In and made it orange but we are sistahs none-the-less!

Sun in! I could remember the name. If we didn’t have lemons Sun in worked too. I already had red in my hair so whatever it did I loved.

Well I still have PTSD from my one Sun-In summer! I am still hesitant to let a PROFESSIONAL put highlights in my hair!

Memories from my childhood ! Tan lines = success back then. Had to get the base tan, right? Tanning beds and the little decals. What was I thinking

I think I had your exact hair cut and style when I was 15!! I used peroxide on my permed hair!

Yep, yep, gotta get that nice orange perm to match that savage tan! OMG the little decals in the tanning beds!! Like a little tattoo reminder of your once pale, healthy, baby skin!
